IT'S CALLED A TATTOO, NOT A MASSAGE Let's be honest...It's called a tattoo, not a massage. It's going to hurt. Some spots are just a little spicy. Others will have you reconsidering some of your life choices.Your first instinct will probably be to clench every muscle in your body.Don't.Relaxing is your secret weapon.Your muscles aren't going to win. The tighter you squeeze, flex, clench, or try to become a human statue, the harder you're making it on yourself and your artist. When we tell you to relax your muscles, we're not just trying to sound wise. A relaxed body usually hurts less, makes the tattoo easier to apply, and keeps your artist from wrestling with your arm or leg.And don't forget to breathe.Holding your breath won't make it hurt less... it'll just make you dizzy and give your artist another problem to solve.Slow, steady breathing will help you get through even the toughest parts. If you need a minute, just tell us. We'd much rather take a short break than have you try to prove you're tougher than the tattoo machine. If you need your mom... we can't help with that.
