WinWin

Scott recently won 1st Place for Best Leg Sleeve in Detroit and 2nd Place for Best Portrait in Philadelphia.  (The judge said he would have one first if the bearer had thought to shave his arm, ha).

Huge thanks to Mike Zynn for showing off his killer leg and JR for showing off the beautiful portrait of his sister.  :D

WALK IN DAY COMING UP!

Get tattooed before the holidays by Scott! Sunday, December 22 is the next walk in day. Scott will be showing up early, ready to tattoo as many people as he can. Bring any reference you may have for your tattoo, and let it be known that Scotch makes a great tip!

While you’re out and about Christmas shopping, pop in to the shop and buy a gift certificate for a friend or loved one. Truly a gift that will last a lifetime! If you are from out of town and would like a gift certificate, you can call the shop and arrange with Mel to send a money order & have us send off the goods.

SHACK ROAD CREW ABDUCTED!

Sugar Shack’s star client Myke Zinn was kidnapped at gunpoint during his recent trip to Peru for a tattoo convention. The men made off with thousands of dollars as well as Myke’s research for his Master’s Degree.

Proceeds from all gift certificate sales before the holidays are being donated to Myke, who did take 1st place in Peru for the leg sleeve Scott has done on him.

Only TWO more WALK IN DAYS!

Tomorrow and next Friday are the last two walk in days of the summer! Arrive early, put your name on the list at the barber shop next door. Scott shows up at 8:30 to run through everyone’s consultations and give everyone a time to come back to get their tattoos done. Come with any reference you may have.

Summer has been flying by. The shadows are getting denser, the air is getting cooler. The Montreal Tattoo Convention is also on the horizon now and Scott will be tattooing away, so if you want work, give a call to the shop or hit him up on the spot.

Check out the family blog to see pictures of Scott & friends at the 2008 Old Boys Reunion.

Tattoo appointments with Scott

Big news!

Scott has started booking tattoo appointments again. (He had stopped taking any new work as it seemed a bit ridiculous to ask people to wait 12 months or more to get tattooed). His brand new 2009 schedule has been cracked open and is ready to be filled, so if you are looking for work, please do get in touch! All tattoo appointments must be preceded by a consultation appointment. Scott is booking consults for August (when he is back from his paternity leave) and all consults are FREE. To book a consultation appointment you must call the shop. (519)396-8282

If you are looking for work sooner than January you can come in on ANY FRIDAY over the summer and get tattooed by Scott on one of his walk in days. Sign up early at the barber shop next door, or meet him when he gets in (9am start time on Fridays).

You can also get tattooed by Jarkko, who has been tattooing for as many years as we require our clients to be in age. He does nice clean custom work and is more immediately available.

You can also keep your eyes peeled for Choona Mel’s (Scott’s apprentice) debut onto the tattoo scene, which should be happening sooner than later. She has been with Sugar Shack for over a year and is about to do her first tattoo this coming week. We’ll soon see if we’ll keep her or throw her back. ;)

The Littlest Duncan!

Meeps

A motorcycle ride got Ashley’s lazy labour kicked into high gear! Between that and the price of gas, the decision to buy the bike has been vindicated in spades! The midwives were wonderful and facilitated a fabulous home birth experience. I know if you have seen my wife’s website, our stance on home birth and midwifery is clear, but I cannot recommend it enough! If you are even considering having a baby soon, please consider this strongly as an option! Maggie is totally beautiful, and very peaceful and serene so far. It’s early days, I know, but we are soaking up every minute. Bob, who is a few days short of 21 months old, has been very gentle and curious around his new little sister, which is encouraging. Again, early days, but a good sign.

I am basking in the calm of what is my first official day off of this one month paternity leave I’ve granted myself. Having painted and rebuilt our lawn tractor cutting deck yesterday, I did the first few victory laps today with Bob riding shotgun on my knees and steering, leaving a golf course worthy manicured swath in our wake.

While I have taken the month off from scheduled appointments, I will be working the legendary Walk-In Fridays at the shop all month long, just so the ole’ tattoo muscles don’t get too rusty. Don’t know if I’ll be doing too many of the 15 hour, 10+ people per day marathons the day has been built on, but rest assured I will get through as many acres of skin as possible each and every Friday this summer.

Back to the family for now, but keep an eye out for new updates as the summer progresses.

Summer is here

Walk in days have been going great. While showing up early (the earliest so far was at DAWN!) will guarantee you a spot, it’s definitely not always necessary. Please do show up at any time throughout the day to see how things are going.

Today is official due date for Duncan child #2. Scott will continue to work walk in Fridays, unless Ashley is in labour. As only baby knows when baby will come, there’s not going to be any notice!

While Scott prefers to keep walk ins for smaller tattoos, please do call or book a consult to discuss any tattoo you think may suit a walk in day. There is always the possibility of completing line work one day and colour on another.

Really, the moral of this story is just communicate with us and we’ll try to get you tattooed!

AND another big thank you to Myke Zinn for winning Scott yet ANOTHER award on his awesome looking leg at the Toronto Tattoo Convention! Next Myke will be heading to Cape Town, Africa to try to keep the awards coming from all continents!

Trout Snout & Walk Ins!

Ned

Scott went fishing! And look at that lovely trout he romanced onto his hook. Apparently his name is Ned. A background obscuring Photoshop filter has been used in order to protect his whereabouts.

Walk in appointments start this Friday! Scott will be starting his day around 9am, so if you’re interested, join our bright eyed and bushy tailed Scottsman early to secure your spot that day! Bring any reference or drawings you may have.
