Sugar Shack Evolves to Serve You Better

Local custom tattoo landmark Sugar Shack Tattoo celebrates its 10th year in business, and to mark this milestone, owner Scott Duncan has some exciting things happening at the downtown studio. The shop, located at 732 Queen Street, Kincardine, is undergoing substantial renovations to accommodate some new talent.

Tattoo artist Dave Allen, all the way from British Columbia, will soon be joining the shop. Smilin’ Dave previously owned Five Fathoms, a custom shop in the small town of Vernon. His work is bold, and colourful, influenced by traditional tattoo styles, but very modern in its feel. He has worked with some of the best artists in Canada and abroad, and his enthusiasm for the craft will be a welcome addition. He will be arriving mid June taking appointments and walk-ins where possible.

Also the subject of fervid speculation, Scott’s apprentice Melanie Wayland will soon be taking appointments. After a grueling two-year apprenticeship, Mel has put some solid starter tattoos on several friends and is ready to be unleashed on the general population. As the only female artist in the shop, her personal touch will bring a new energy to the workspace at Sugar Shack.

Of course, veteran tattooer Jarkko also continues his tenure at the shop, crafting his distinctly original and graphic style of skin art and mythology. A versatile artist, Jarkko has played an important role in the evolution of Sugar Shack for many years, having started his own tattoo career in Kincardine almost two decades ago.

Starting June 5th, Scott will be doing walk in days on Fridays, all summer long. Don’t miss a chance to be a part of these now famous events. Beat the waiting lists, and get tattooed that day, with a custom design drawn just for you.
